The First Step Is Admitting You Have a Problem...

I did it again. I changed the look of my blog. I sincerely hope these somewhat frequent switcheroos aren't driving you all nuts. The truth is, I haven't been crazy about the old look from the start (the green and red). It's not that I hated it, I just didn't feel like it was exactly how I wanted to present myself. It felt a little too cutesie for me. David Powers King recently posted about how your name is your brand when you're trying to get published (and even, fingers crossed, after). While this new look might not be 100% perfect, I definitely like it better. It feels a little less busy and I like that it has my full name at the top. So if it seems less cheery or turns you off, I'm sorry. Not my intent...

    1. Thank you! I was really hoping it isn't too dark. The other one just felt off to me, so I'm happy someone else likes it :)

  4. I love the typewriter and how your name drips ink, very cool. Also the Reader. Writer. Nerd. is Awesome!

  5. Oooh, love it! A little (but not too much) Edward Gorey. And the red really pops.

  6. Nice! I like how it's almost Gorey-esque. And typewriters are one of my favorite things.

  7. It looks great, Jaime! It´s more streamlined and while I liked the picture you had on top previously, it´s easier to get to the information and to your posts with this new layout...(and I love the typewriter/hand writing) :D

  8. Looks good! I like how it showcases your name, it's clear to read and it clearly shows that you're a writer. :)

  9. Ooo... it's a bit Gothic. Not a bad thing, just very different from the last look. I think it's good, though I'm not 100% certain about the grey name on black. I can read it, but I don't know if it stands out enough. But who am I to comment? I completely suck at design... so don't listen to me. :)

  10. Did you change it? Because now I'm at home looking on my PC, it's different (black on white), and much better. Perhaps my work PC didn't pick up on the new design properly. Wouldn't surprise me. :)

  11. Thanks for your feedback, everyone! I really appreciate it. I hadn't even thought about Edward Gorey when I changed it, but that's kind of nifty :) Glad I didn't scare all of you off with the change.

  13. I know exactly what you mean about a look not quite fitting. This one is great and not busy at all! I love the black, white, red and gray combination too. The spattering is such a wonderful texture.

And thanks to you, I got inspired to change my blog design also! (I thought the snowflakes were probably getting a little out of season.) My new one is very brown with aqua. It makes me think of a steampunk chocolate shop.

    1. I did see the new cover and it's very cool. I've had Crossed sitting on my shelf since it came out and I'm not sure why I didn't dive right into that thing. Silly me. Thanks for the details about the On Writing Club -- will head right over to your link! :D
