Cover Love

Today's Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by The Broke and the Bookish) is all about our favourite books covers:

Top 10 Covers of 2012
(that we know of so far)

Since I read mostly YA, my cover choices are all YA. I have read some of the books on my list already, while others are not out yet (obviously). I opted to stick with selections from my Goodreads TBR list, so they are all books that I consider both eye-catching and intriguing.

Here are my Top Ten 2012 (YA) Covers (in random order):

Butterflies
1)  Incarnate by Jodi Meadows (01/31)
2)  Pure by Julianna Baggott (02/08)

Dresses
3)  The Selection* by Kiera Cass (04/24)
4)  Everneath by Brodi Ashton (01/24)
5)  A Breath of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont        (03/27)

Skies and Sci Fi
6)  Cinder by Marissa Meyer (01/03)
7)  Tempest by Julie Cross (01/17)
      by Diana Peterfreund (06/12)

Goggles and Dragons
9)  The Unnaturalists by Tiffany Trent (08/14)
10)  Seraphina by Rachel Hartman (07/10)

Honourable Mentions
Insurgent by Veronica Roth (05/01)
Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock (05/08)
What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang (09/18)

How about you? Any favourite 2012 covers?

  1. I don't know that I've seen any 2012 covers that just blow me away yet. Some of the ones you've picked are good (CINDER, TEMPEST). Clearly I don't spend enough time on Goodreads. :)

  4. Incarnate is definitely pretty. And how have I not yet heard of a Breath of Eyre??? I'm adding it to my TBR-list!

  5. Is it weird that I kind of want the Everneath dress?
I've always loved the cover for TEMPEST.

  6. Thanks for doing this, Jaime - I wouldn't have found this challenge if I didn't see your post. I've posted my favourites here:

  9. Seraphina is more my style. Though I'm calling 2012 as the year of the hair on book covers.

  12. These are all lovely covers, but there was a post on Gennifer Albin's blog a while back about the 'girl washing' of YA covers - basically that lots of YA books featured girls in prom-like dresses on the cover, even if that isn't what's happening in the book. This kinda disturbs me, like they're solely being marketed for girls. Some books, I get, are that way, but the cover trend is taking over! I find the profusion of prom dresses to be a bit off putting, personally, which is a shame because it might keep me from reading an awesome book. (I may be the lone dissenter here, just my 2 cents!)
