A is for the Awesome Agents at YA Confidential.
Let me tell you why. Back in January I left a comment on the YA Confidential Comment of the Week post, and wonder of wonders I won for my comment! Some time went by, and just the other day I realized that the book I'd chosen from their vault o' goodness hadn't shown up yet. Cue internal debate.
Jaime: Do we emails them and asks about it?
Jaimeagol: If we emails them and asks about it, does that make us seems grabby and rude?
Jaime: If they assume we've already gotten the precious, do we seems rude already for not emailing and letting them know we gots it?
Anyhoo...
Back to why the YA Confidential folks are so awesome. The wonderful Sara McClung refused to let it go--I had told her it was OK and not to worry about sending another--and insisted upon sending me not one, but TWO books to replace the lost one. How A is for AWESOME is that? Since there were no longer any signed copies of The Forest of Hands and Teeth, these awesome ladies + 1 dude are sending me a signed copy of the sequel, The Dead-Tossed Waves, as well as an unsigned copy of the first book! I can't tell you how much this brightened my day, warmed my heart, made me smile.
And so, A is definitely for the Awesome Agents at YA Confidential. Thanks so much! ☺
P.S. I decided to go with an old Blogging from A to Z April Challenge widget because it matched the colours of my blog better. Weird? Yes.

Hi Jaime, I came over from the A-Z website and I am also participating in the challenge. And wow -that is awesome that you ended up with 2 books. That is really lovely that Sara did that for you, and I guess I have to say the YA world rocks! :-)
ReplyDeleteI also freaking loved your post below this one about the cover lookalikes. Yours are spot on!
-Rachel
Hi Rachel :D I thought it was extremely generous of Sara and the YA Confidential crew to do this. They have a great blog too! As for the YA lookalike covers--way too much fun! :)
DeleteThat is super awesome! Greetings from a fellow A to Z blogger.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather :) Thanks for dropping by! I stopped by yours as well.
DeleteYay for Awesome Agents! :D
ReplyDeleteWay to take the plunge and do the challenge... you're a braver soul than I! ;)
Isn't that great of them? I thought so. People never fail to make me smile and that's a good thing :)
DeleteThat IS awesome! I adore nice people. And dude, I can totally see a big border dude getting sucked into a book. That'd make a GREAT story. :D
ReplyDeleteI love nice people too. It totally reminds me that even though there are some really jerky people in the world, there are more people that are truly kind :D
DeleteVery cool. Those are two creepy and chilling books. I haven't read anything else like them in YA; definitely a different series than I expected.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure what to expect, but so many people love them. Hope I like them too. People raved about Kristin Cashore's GRACELING books and I put off reading them forever. Now that I'm halfway through the trilogy, I'm really wondering why I waited so long! Let's hope I feel the same way about Carrie Ryan's books :)
DeleteThat is very awesome! Those books are great and creepy! Love em!
ReplyDeleteHappy A-Zing!
Looking forward to reading them and totally grateful for the YA Confidential crew :)
DeleteOh how fun! How do you find out about these challenges? Also...I take it the hard drive wasn't able to be salvaged? How much did you lose? :(
ReplyDeleteI think I first heard about the challenge on Katy Upperman's blog, and then I started seeing it everywhere. We're not sure about the hard drive at the moment. We're waiting until we head home from my parents' place tomorrow so we can bring it to a computer shop in our city (because it will probably take a few days). I am optimistic that it will be recovered, but at a price of course. I'm fully expecting to pay upwards of $300, but have decided that it's worth it to me. How bad is that? :D
DeleteOh, I love the girls at YA Confidential--they're definitely awesome! I just won an ARC from their Comment of the Week feature, and I'm super excited about it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you decided to jump in on the A-Z Challenge, Jaime. I'm looking forward to reading your posts. :)
Aren't they great? I saw that you won for the Comment of the Week. Congrats! I have to move STOLEN up my TBR list now :D Creepy!
DeleteIt was people like you who pushed me over the edge in my decision process for the A to Z Challenge. Who wouldn't want to take part when so many awesome blogs have taken the plunge? :)
Wow, yes that is totally awesome!! And I agree, I'm glad you're doing the challenge, too! So nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteFollowing along :)
I'm glad I decided to join too :) Plus, it gives me ideas for what to write on my blog each day--a little bit of guidance. Thanks for dropping by, and it's really nice to meet you too :D
DeleteLove that you carry on conversations with Jaimeagol. :)And very cool of the YA Confidential agents, indeed!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist with the LOTR themed inner monologue. Yes, my nerdiness is showing :D I thought it was very cool of the YA Confidential folks. Made my week, especially after the hard drive situation :)
DeleteAw, dude, Jaime. You're so sweet. And I'm so glad you decided to send the email! I'm starting to think that people in customs hate us, because it's the second book that's been mailed internationally that didn't show up :( BUT I'm so happy we were able to sort it out. You'll have to let me know what you think of the books!
ReplyDeleteAlso? Sorry about your hard drive! That is NO fun.
Thanks again, Sara :D That's terrible about the customs folks and books getting lost in the mail (or held up). I'll definitely let you know what I think of the books! :)
DeleteLoved the LOTR themed internal dialogue. It is a sad day any time books get lost in the mail but I'm so glad you received a replacement.
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying Kristin Cashore.

I couldn't resist with the nod to Smeagol and Gollum. Too much fun :D As for Kristin Cashore: I'm absolutely loving her books. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of BITTERBLUE, so I have that to look forward to as soon as I finish FIRE. I figure it's a waste of an ARC if I don't read it before it's officially published :)
DeleteHello! Stopping by for the A to Z Challenge. That is so cool about getting two books to replace one. The agents at YA Confidential are awesome!

PUTTING WORDS DOWN ON PAPER
Thanks for stopping by! And yes, the folks at YA Confidential are great, as is their blog :D
DeleteAs usual, you've got me loling! So glad persistent you won out! Love ya confidential - they are A-mazing!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could make you laugh :D And YA Confidential is definitely amazing!
DeleteThe YA Confidential agents are definitely awesome - fab post, Jaime! And yes, somewhere, some huge, burly, border dude is definitely getting addicted to the unconsecrated! Thanks for the LOL!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be hilarious? :) I love that their are such thoughtful people in the world like the YA Confidential folks. Makes me smile :)
Deletehi good luck on the A to Z. I am trying to read as many as possible....Thats not easy the numbers are now very big
ReplyDeleteYes, no doubt! Thanks for stopping by and saying 'hi' :)
DeleteThat is Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAgreed :D
DeleteSara is BOMB. I love her and I love every one over at YA Confidential - of course I may be a bit biased. ;) Thanks for the shout out, Jaime! And glad you got the Carrie Ryan books. They're awesome too!
ReplyDeleteSorry you lost the book. There is a place the USPS keeps mail that is not identified by the address... perhaps it is there.
ReplyDeleteYay! I´m so happy you decided to join the challenge (that means one Jaime post per day right? :D)
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your inner dialogue but this is one I probably would have had as well to decide whether or not to email :D
Their reaction was wonderful and sweet! Hope you like the books :D
Jaimeagol! LOL!! Wonderful! I hope you have a great A-to-Z month. I'm looking forward to what you have for us all over the next 30 days. Or 29 now, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's always nice to see that agents are people too - nice ones ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat an Awesome thing to do! Sounds like really great people. You lucky gal.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the #atozchallenge!
Awww that is so great! Most agents I've encountered (on the internet only, sadly) have been an absolute pleasure to talk to. So glad that worked out!
ReplyDeleteA is for AWWWWWWW.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the YA Con shout out, and sorry the border dude stole the book.
