Ready. Set. WRITE! (Week 1)

Welcome back to Ready. Set. WRITE! We hope you’re looking forward to another productive summer! If you’re new this year and wondering what RSW is all about, it’s a summer long writing intensive with the purpose of writing, revising, or planning like crazy, plus a way to keep each other accountable. We will be sharing our goals on Mondays and keeping our posts BRIEF (2-3 lines tops per heading) to maximize our writing time and minimize on blogging. You can sign up on the linky at any of the host blogs every Monday. And don't forget to hop around to encourage other participants. For more info on RSW and a link to our lovely stash of buttons, go here.

My Goals For This Week:
• complete an outline for Part II of my YA contemporary IN THE END
• add at least 500 new words, five days this week to IN THE END
• revise at least one chapter of my YA sci-fi WATCH OF NIGHT

GOAL FOR THE SUMMER
Finish drafting IN THE END and maybe, just maybe, start revising it as well.

*
HOW I DID:
Monday --» added 1500 new words to IN THE END
Tuesday --» added 550 new words to IN THE END
Wednesday --» DAY OFF
Thursday --» revised one chapter of WATCH OF NIGHT + added 700 new words to IN THE END
Friday --» DAY OFF
Saturday --» added 1150 new words to IN THE END
Sunday --» added 1100 new words to IN THE END

Here are the headings for next week:
1. How I did on last week’s goals
2. My goal(s) for this week
3. A favourite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised
4. The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write, the siren song of SNIs)

5. Something I love about my WiP

Happy Writing/Revising/Planning!

  10. I like how you broke your goals down for the summer, and for the following week. I probably should have done that too, but I feel like I need to assess how much writing time I'm actually going to have now that my girl's home with me all day. Hopefully quite a bit. :-) Best of luck with IN THE END, Jaime. Love that title!

    1. I felt like I needed to have some idea where I was going this summer, you know? I've been drifting for way too long now, so I need some kind of marker on the horizon that I want to reach. But breaking it down into manageable chunks is just as important for me. I'm pretty excited that we're up and running now! :D

  11. I went back and set a weekly goal after reading your post, which is feel like is needed. It will help so much. Your goals for the summer are great, and I think, totally doable! Looking forward to this summer!

    1. I think weekly goals make those overarching goals feel more manageable, you know? I need specifics to get anywhere, otherwise I'll just coast. I'm so happy you're joining us again this summer, Rebekah! :D

    1. Thanks for joining in, Melanie!

I felt like I needed overarching goals so I know where I want to go this summer writing-wise, but specific weekly goals break it down into manageable chunks, which I also need so I don't coast. Works for me! :D

    1. Thanks, Mandie! IN THE END is a supposed to be a bit of a double entendre, based on the story's premise. I kind of love it. :D I'm so excited about the possibility of finishing up a project during this intensive. I hope we both do!

    1. The linky is open until midnight PST. We really want to keep the blogging aspect of RSW contained to Mondays as much as possible (so we can spend more time writing), so the window closes at the end of the day on Mondays. Thanks for swinging by! I'll pop by your blog right away too. Good luck this week! :D
