Genre: Contemporary/Historical/Magical Realism...or something (YA)
A story set in France, split between the years 2017 and 1917, commemorating the centenary of the battle of Vimy Ridge in WWI. I'm aiming for Jennifer Donnelly's REVOLUTION meets Diana Gabaldon's OUTLANDER for a young adult audience.
WATCH OF NIGHT
Genre: Science Fiction (YA)
Here's a piece of poetry that inspired the title of my WIP:
The night is come, but not too soon;
And sinking silently,
All silently, the little moon
Drops down behind the sky.
There is no light in earth or heaven
But the cold light of stars;
And the first watch of night is given
To the red planet Mars.

“The Light of Stars”
Genre: Romance (YA)
A modern day spin on my absolute favourite and arguably the most heart-wrenching Jane Austen novel: Persuasion. I love Austen in general, but this story in particular. It transcends time and actually translates quite nicely into a young adult story. Plus, it allows me to be unabashedly girly and romantic ♥.
“…But Anne, with an elegance of mind and sweetness of character, which must have placed her high with any people of real understanding, was nobody with either father or sister; her word had no weight, her convenience was always to give way—she was only Anne.”
- JANE AUSTEN, Persuasion
